The Shepherd
He holds you close. Like this. Isaiah 40:11 says, “He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart.”
In the ancient world, shepherds didn’t drive sheep from behind like cattle. They walked among them. When a lamb was weak, injured, or wandering, the shepherd would lift it up and carry it against his chest so it could feel his heartbeat.
That is the image God chose to describe His relationship with you.
When you’re exhausted… He carries.
When you’re afraid… He gathers.
When you feel lost… He brings you close again.
The Good Shepherd isn't ashamed of the lamb that struggles. He doesn’t abandon the weak or discard the wandering. He draws them closer. Closer to His heart.
