Obedience

The next time you feel the weight of obedience, remember this scene. Remember the Son of God chose the will of the Father over the desires of His own flesh. We often think obedience should feel peaceful, easy, even affirming. But Scripture shows us something deeper: obedience can feel heavy, stretching, and agonizing. In Luke 22, Jesus prayed with such intensity that His sweat became "like drops of blood." Not because He doubted the Father - but because He fully understood the cost of saying “yes.” Obedience isn't proven in ease - it’s revealed in surrender. It’s choosing God’s will when your emotions resist and your understanding falls short. It’s trusting that what God is building in you is greater than what you’re being asked to give up. So if it feels heavy… you’re not off track. You might just be right where Jesus was. Hebrews 12:2: "Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
