Give your burdens to God

 

If your heart is tired today, I want to remind you of something you may have forgotten: you do not have to pretend to be strong for Jesus.

Some of you have been carrying burdens for so long that you no longer remember what it feels like to truly rest. You keep smiling for everyone else. You keep showing up. You keep serving. You keep encouraging other people while quietly wondering who will encourage you. You have become so accustomed to carrying the weight that you almost believe it belongs on your shoulders.

But it never did.

The finished work of Jesus was never an invitation to carry life alone. It was an invitation to rest in a grace that has already accomplished what you never could. Grace is not merely God’s kindness toward you. Grace is God’s constant reminder that you do not have to earn what Jesus has already secured. Every ounce of acceptance you long for, every bit of peace you are searching for, and every promise God has made to you flows through His grace.

Perhaps no one knows how exhausted you really are. They see your smile but not your tears. They hear your laughter but not the conversations you have with God when no one else is around. They applaud your strength while never realizing how close you have come to giving up. But Jesus knows. He has never once misunderstood your silence. He is not waiting for you to become stronger before He draws near. His grace meets you exactly where you are.

One of the enemy’s greatest lies is convincing weary people that they have to keep proving themselves. Keep performing. Keep holding everything together. Keep pretending they are okay. But your Father has never asked you to impress Him. He has only invited you to rest in His Son. The Christian life does not begin with striving, and it is not sustained by striving. It is sustained by grace.

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Notice what Jesus does not say. He does not say, “Come to me after you fix yourself.” He does not say, “Come to me when you are stronger.” He simply says, “Come.” Grace always invites before it demands. Love always welcomes before it transforms.

The Greek word “charis” means grace, unearned favor, and freely given kindness. Grace is God moving toward you when you feel you have nothing left to offer. Grace is the Father smiling over you because of Jesus, not because of your performance. Grace reminds you that Christ has already done enough, so you no longer have to live trying to prove you are enough.

You may feel like you have nothing left to give. Maybe your prayers have become shorter because you are too tired to find the words. Maybe all you can do is whisper the name of Jesus. Can I tell you something beautiful? He hears every whisper just as clearly as every sermon. He is not measuring the length of your prayers. He is responding to the heart of His beloved child. Grace listens to every sigh.

The finished work of Christ means you are not held together by your strength. You are held together by His. Even when your faith feels weak, His faithfulness remains strong. Even when your hands feel like letting go, His hands never loosen their grip on you. Your weakness has never made His grace insufficient. In fact, it becomes another opportunity for His grace to remind you that He is enough.

Second Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Think about those words. Jesus did not promise that your strength would always be sufficient. He promised that His grace would be. Every day you wake up, His grace is already waiting for you before your feet touch the floor.

One day you will realize that the seasons you thought were breaking you were actually the seasons where you learned to lean on grace more than ever before. You will look back and see that while you thought you were barely surviving, Jesus was faithfully carrying you. Every tear was seen. Every sigh was heard. Every sleepless night was held in the hands that were pierced for you.

So if your heart is tired today, stop trying to be enough. Jesus already is. Stop trying to carry what He has already carried. Stop believing that rest has to be earned. Through the finished work of Jesus Christ, grace has already made a place for you. Breathe again. Rest again. Hope again. You are not held together by your determination. You are held together by His grace. And that grace has never failed a single one of God’s children. It will not fail you now.
